Veggie patch

As a family we are getting into the whole self sufficient idea... well trying to HAHA!! We decided that a veggie patch would be a good start, so with the help of the entire McDonald family we made it in one day! Though the preparations leading up to this day were taken care of by Daddy and Hannah... you can see for yourself how much Hannah enjoyed helping!!

What a cheeky little face! Hannah absolutely loves playing in the dirt, in fact there's a pretty funny story... I found a worm and thought it would be interesting to show Hannah the little worm wriggling in my hand, little did i know that she would be sooo interested that she would pick it up and put it straight in her mouth! The look on her face was priceless!! That lil worm must have wriggled and squiggled all over as Hannah willingly let me retrieve it from her mouth... not something she often does!

It was an absolute delight to watch our beautiful little girl getting into all the good things in life... outside in the grass and the mud, having an absolute blast! And as you can tell Hannah is quite partial to a bit of mud herself...

Daddy and Hannah getting the ground ready for our new veggie patch! We are all very excited about it. I have already started growing seeds in a little greenhouse thingy inside... Cant wait to pick our first tasty treat.

What a precious little girl :o) She was soooo happy outside!

This is after a couple hours in the garden.... believe it or not Hannah's pants are MEANT to be a LIGHT grey colour - if you look near her waist you will see what colour they are meant to be! Oh not to mention the shoes..... the are pink and white... can you tell????

Here is Jay being the clever man that he is! Jay is the mastermind behind the construction, hopefully in a few months we will be able to repay him with an abundance of veggies! Oh and we can't for get Charlotte and Jacob who were both great assistants!

VOILA! And look what we have here. It was a team effort this one, we had a mound of compost/soil delivered and everyone pitched in. Shannon and Jason had the shovels and wheelbarrow while Kelli, Sarah, Brooklyn, Jacob and Charlotte had the buckets and what ever scooping tool we could find! Oh and we cant forget chief supervisor Hannah who sat on the chair and made sure we all did our jobs!
